Crown and Conquests
Feudalism, Chivalry, and Powerful Monarchies
DESCRIPTION & INSPIRATION
Set in Medieval times, 'Crown and Conquests' is a non-digital board game featuring
three distinct roles, each with unique objectives to conquer and win the Crown. The Medieval
period, spanning roughly from the 5th to the 15th century, was characterized by feudalism,
chivalry, and the rise of powerful monarchies and lords. It was an era marked by territorial
expansion, dynamic struggles, and shifting alliances.
Drawing inspiration from this rich historical background, the game comprises three roles:
the Warmonger, whose role is to eliminate all non-Warmonger players but will face defeat if they
eliminate another Warmonger; the Progressor, aiming to be the fastest on the board and complete
an additional lap beyond the second fastest player; and the Pacifist, focused on survival, winning
if only Pacifists remain in the game. The roles correspond to the different personalities of lords,
and the in-game player choices indicate the actions of such lords to fulfill their objectives
determined by their personalities.
The overall concept of the theme revolves around players
fulfilling their objectives based on their roles within the framework of medieval times,
competing against each other while navigating through strategic challenges and decision-making
scenarios. This game incorporates elements of dilemma, cooperation, betrayal, and risk-taking to
simulate the dynamics of medieval trade, politics and warfare. The interpretation of the medieval
theme is evident in the cards and mini-games, and in the general theme of the board, as trading,
unfairness, and much more represent different factions or roles within a medieval kingdom. The
inclusion of mini-games like unfair games, dice-rolling, and dilemma games adds depth to the
gameplay, allowing players to engage in various challenges that reflect the uncertainties and
intrigues of medieval life.
